Can I enroll at aidha if I’m not a domestic worker?

Of course, but you cannot enroll in the programmes offered through our Singapore campus. The Singapore campus is dedicated to serving foreign domestic workers. However, aidha is expanding rapidly. We serve more, and more diverse students every day.

I’m not sure I want to start a business but I would like to learn computing.  Can I enroll just for computing workshops?

No. aidha is a business school, not a casual learning center.  Students must commit to the  full learning programme. Of course, not all of aidha’s students will become entrepreneurs. Many will decide that to take up other careers. However, the learning realized at aidha will be useful whatever profession you decide to follow.

I’d like my helper to take a cooking course or sewing course.  Do you offer those useful skills-based classes?

No, aidha is not a basic skills training center. aidha is focused squarely on developing tomorrow’s business leaders. We are a  business school. The skills we impart are life skills.

How long will it take to complete the programme?

It will take approximately two years to complete the course. Each learning module lasts 9 months. Many students move directly into the second module once they have completed the first. These students will finish the entire programme in 18 months. Other students take a small break between modules. We encourage students to take a month or two between modules to rest and reflect on their learning.

Do you provide a certificate for your courses? Is your school accredited?

aidha provides certificates of completion at the end of all of its learning programmes. To recognize the students who complete the full programme, aidha holds an annual graduation ceremony that is attended by some 400 individuals. Our programme is not yet accredited, however. We look forward to building world-wide recognition for our diploma over the coming years.

What should I bring when I come to enroll?

We encourage all students to download and complete the basic application before visiting aidha. However, those forms can also be completed at aidha. Please also  bring 2 passport size photos, the student’s work permit, and  the tuition payment.

Do you have classes during the week?

At the Singapore campus, our courses are offered only on Sundays, the traditional ‘day off’ for domestic workers.

However, our custom programmes are scheduled to suit the unique needs of our clients.

Who owns aidha?

aidha is a social enterprise and is registered as a company limited by guarantee. We are a charitable, not-for-profit organization, run by aidha’s members and board of directors. aidha does not have ‘owners.’  We exist to serve a social purpose.

How does aidha survive when it charges so little for its courses?

In addition to the courses we offer through our schoolhouse, aidha also offers consulting and custom programme development to corporations and not for profit organizations. The revenues we earn from these customers help keep aidha growing. But no organization can make it alone. We welcome donations from the friends of aidha. Together, we can bring aidha to the world.
